THE JOY OF PLAY 31 January 2014

The girls of MAKERS are quite serious about the importance of play. As we're pretty good at doing STUFF  we thought we'd share bits of what we're doing, what inspires us, who inspires us, pics from our travels or what we're making. You know, stuff.

So this is what this 'blog' is supposed to be about. If it's sometime frivolous, well, LIFE IS FUN & we do try to not be too serious about it all.

CLEAN-UP 29 January 2014

NOTHING like a major clean up / clean out to start a week. Or deal with the exhaustion (and hangover) of four days in Cape Town. It's amazing how much recreation time one can fit into 4 days if there's no actual work to do and manual labour can fix most things.

MITCHELL'S PLAIN 24 January 2014

WHILE down in Cape Town I visited the MicroSeed library in Mitchell's Plain. They were still stocking the shelves so the kids were only going to start using the space the following week. The librarian did tell me that they had a lot of positive interest from other librarians, so hopefully more of these can be rolled out to the schools in need.

Thankfully my friend Sanche Frølich was doing all the driving so I got to do the tourist thing: Sit back & take many many semi-okay phone pics.

BUILDING A LIBRARY 7 January 2014

AFTER months of waiting for the go ahead to install the furniture we got a call at the beginning of January to do just that. So off we went to the Jenny Crwys Williams / Exclusive Books MicroSeed library in Devland in Soweto.

We weren't really there to 'install' but more like show the guys from #networkBBDO on how to in a quick & simple manner and in just over an hour we had assembled everything.

The building was designed by THE ARCHITECTS OF JUSTICE. They're the bunch that inspired our SHUT UP "ARCHITECT" poster. You can see some of what they've built here: http://www.architectsofjustice.com/

AND these are the pictures Olivia took after we had set up the furniture:
